The mental health of children in the United States is deteriorating, but there is no countermeasure. If things continue like this, the child's growing brain nerve cells will stop developing. As they continue into adulthood, mental illness will increase and the overall social power of the United States will slowly decline.
Of the more than 100,000 clinical psychologists in the United States, only 4,000 are child and adolescent clinicians. There is also a shortage of school psychologists, leaving children without adequate support at school.

The current state of school refusal in the United States is summarized below.
The number of truancy cases in the U.S. has been on the rise in recent years: in 2020, the truancy rate for middle school students and high school students reached 12.7 percent and 16.1 percent, respectively, in the U.S. This is an increase of 2.8 percentage points for the truancy rate for junior high school students and 4.2 percentage points for high school students compared to 2010.
As in Japan, the causes of truancy in the U.S. are as diverse as the family environment, school environment, and personal characteristics. In the family environment, the most common causes are parental divorce or bereavement, and economic hardship. In the school environment, bullying and problems with teachers are common causes. Individual characteristics often include learning disabilities, developmental disabilities, and other developmental problems.
The U.S. truancy policy consists of the following three main pillars
Early detection and intervention
The goal is to prevent prolonged truancy or worsening of truancy by detecting signs of truancy at an early stage and providing appropriate support. To this end, it is important for the school, family, and community to work together to understand the child's condition.
Individualized Support
The purpose of this program is to help children return to school by creating individualized support plans and providing appropriate support according to the cause and circumstances of truancy. The support includes learning support, counseling, and home visits.

The Digital Deluge: How Information Overload Could be Damaging Our Children's Brains
The magnitude of data generated daily on the Internet is colossal. By 2020, it was estimated that around 2.5 petabytes of data were being created every day. This includes various types of content, ranging from text and images to videos and audio recordings. The scale of this data generation is projected to escalate annually, reaching an estimated 80 petabytes per day by 2025.
Remarkably, this daily quantum of data equates to a hundred years' worth of the total information produced by humanity. It's a scale that is profoundly beyond the processing capabilities of our primitive, evolutionarily designed brains.
Currently, our ancient, pre-evolutionary brains - with their neurological architecture originally adapted to process information at a much slower pace - are struggling to keep up. As a consequence, when the developing brains of children are exposed to this vast digital deluge of information, their neural growth could potentially stagnate. During adolescence - a critical period of explosive cognitive development - there exists the potential risk of cerebral contraction. This alarming prospect has prompted top neuroscientists around the globe to sound the alarm.
Protecting our children from this looming danger falls squarely on the shoulders of parents - they are our first, and often, only line of defense.


The Fate of Our Children, Jeopardized by 'Junk Food'

It's crucial to remember that the human brain isn't fully developed until one reaches the age of 22 or older; the brain of a teenager is still an organ in progress. The adverse effects these factors have on children can lead to catastrophic consequences that extend far beyond adulthood, wreaking havoc on their life trajectory in ways beyond our wildest imaginations.

The Devastating Evidence Japan Would Rather Keep Hidden
When severe damage is inflicted during adolescence, it results in lifelong negative repercussions. As testament to this, Japan consistently holds the disconcerting distinction of having the highest youth suicide rates among the G7 nations. Owing to the dishonorable nature of this statistic, it is largely underreported, seemingly as if there is a collective agreement between the media and administration to do so. Even when reported on Japan's national radio broadcast, it only garners mere seconds of airtime.
Suicides among elementary, middle, and high school students surpass 500 annually in Japan, setting a new dismal record year after year. When including suicide attempts, the numbers are truly staggering. Furthermore, the number of psychiatric hospital beds in Japan is alarmingly high. Despite its smaller land area, Japan surpasses vast countries like the United States, Russia, and China, holding the dubious distinction of having the highest number of psychiatric beds globally.
Even if suicide is avoided, it is vital to understand the sheer magnitude of young individuals suffering mental anguish. The high number of psychiatric beds signifies not only the high patient count but also the profitable nature of this grim sector of healthcare. The problem is not simply that school refusers have found a refuge from stress, it's that truancy itself is a disaster that must be avoided at all costs.

This is the fundamental 'philosophy' and 'attitude' that guides our operations.
The reason I penned this book was the realization that, should we continue with the misguided methods prevalent today, we will fail to alleviate the suffering of children. As long as we persist with existing approaches such as counseling or so-called chatty coaching, the misfortunes faced by children will not cease.
The reason for this is simple - these methods are fundamentally flawed.
The crux of this mistake lies in viewing external elements as the cause of children's issues. It's erroneous to focus our attention on external factors such as the familial and school environments, which are currently the predominant perspectives.
Despite their incorrectness, adults attempt to inspire and encourage children with words, pressuring them to overcome their issues. This, to me, is nothing short of heartbreaking, even torturous to witness. The origins of the issues borne by children can be traced to problems with the brain and the gut. What is needed are nutrients to nourish cells and physical activity that stimulates the secretion of Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) to reverse the shrinkage of brain neurons. No amount of spoken words or encouragement can deliver these necessary nutrients to a child's gut and brain.
Our fundamental 'philosophy' and 'attitude' remains: "We must not return the young lives born on Earth back to the heavens." Since the birth of the universe and our planet, we have continued to survive without interruption. We have overcome famine, wars, and epidemics to live in the present. It is our mission as Earthlings, as beings alive, to afford the lives birthed by the universe a wealth of experiences across a full spectrum of emotions.
